AARP Foundation tax-aide seeking volunteers
IRON MOUNTAIN — The AARP Foundation and the Dickinson County Library are looking to expand their team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season, by recruiting individuals interested in tax preparation.
Tax-Aide is an AARP Foundation program that has a mission to provide free and high-quality income tax preparation to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 50 and older.
Last year, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 70,000 Michigan residents file their federal and state tax returns.
The program is offered at nearly 200 sites in Michigan — six in the Upper Peninsula — including senior centers, libraries and other convenient locations.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers receive training and continued support in a welcoming environment.
Volunteer tax preparers complete tax preparation training and IRS certification prior to working with taxpayers. Preparers are currently needed in the Iron Mountain area.
Anyone interested in becoming a Tax-Aide volunteer can sign up at aarpfoundation.org/taxaide, or call 906-256-0584. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in coordination with the IRS.
