KINGSFORD — Art Viens and Bill Cummings are the first inductees into the Achievement Hall of Fame established by Breitung Township Schools.

Viens is a distinguished alumnus, contributor, and former Kingsford High School athlete. Cummings is a distinguished alumnus, contributor, and retired KHS teacher. Both have made a lasting impact on both the community and the school district.

“Their unwavering dedication, exceptional talents, and commitment to making a positive difference are truly commendable,” said Jamie Lockhart, KHS student services/scholarship coordinator. “We are proud to celebrate their achievements and contributions.”

Viens, a longtime supporter of Kingsford athletics, has served as a bookkeeper for basketball games and helped organize the Upper Peninsula Track and Field championships. He has been a tireless volunteer for the athletic program and school district.

Cummings taught Spanish for nearly 32 years and set up numerous trips to Mexico for his students. A noted local historian, he chairs the Dickinson County Library Board.

The school district encourages the community to consider nominating individuals for the 2025 class of inductees. Nominees should embody the values of excellence, dedication, and positive impact.

“A special thank you to the Breitung Township Schools Board of Education for their support of this year’s Achievement Hall of Fame,” Lockhart said. “Moving forward, the event will be supported by local sponsors.”
