Quilt Guild meets Tuesday in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Wild Rivers Quilt Guild invites all area quilters and guests to join them for their upcoming meeting Tuesday, beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 900 Central Ave.at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Highway 101 in Florence.

They will welcome presenter Judy Gauthier, owner of Bungalow Quilting & Yarn in Ripon, Wis., author for C&T Publishing of five books, including “Quilts for Scrap Lovers,” “Rainbow Quilts for Scrap Lovers,” “Sew Cuddly,” “Tantalizing Table Toppers” and “Sensational Scrap Quilts.” She is also a fabric designer at Studio e Fabrics.

The topics Gauthier will cover are color selection for quilts and modern quilting. She will tell explain what makes a quilt modern and touch on the Modern Quilt Guild, a nationwide guild that specifically focuses on only modern quilts, and is the sponsor of Quilt Con, which is a nation/worldwide quilt show that occurs once in a major city in the U.S. each year that only displays quilts that meet the modern quilt criteria. She will also have a lot of modern quilts to show attendees. 

The monthly guild meeting will follow.
