Day of Prayer observance in Iron Mountain

The 74th-annual National Day of Prayer took place May 1 with the theme “Pour out to the God of Hope and be filled.” In spite of the rain, about 30 local Christians gathered at noon at the Dickinson County Courthouse to pray for America. Hundreds of similar groups gathered in Michigan, along with roughly 43,000 groups coast-to-coast and in 10 countries. The event lasted an hour and many prayed aloud to God for national, state and local government officials. Additional areas of prayer were for the military, media, business, education, church and family. Angela Hall, Kim Webb and Jason Shultz listen while organizer Cindy Harrington read the theme verse, Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Submitted photo
