Senior Adult Day event Monday at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp
CRYSTAL FALLS — The final Senior Adult Day at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp until September is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.
The event will feature Mexican culture, traditions, cuisine, art and recreation.
The guest speaker will be Tesha Perez, who recently arrived from her home in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, to serve as camp intern until November.
The focus of her presentation will be on the rich culture of her home state of Veracruz, which has multiple indigenous groups who have lived there.
Guests will be treated to an authentic Mexican lunch and horchata, a traditional sweet drink.
This will be Perez’s third summer at FLLC. She recently completed her degree and taught English in Mexico last year.
As camp intern, she will assist with various facets of FLLC’s ministry, including summer camp and retreat programming.
“I came to Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp for the first time in 2023,” Perez said. “I had a great time with campers and my fellow friends and growing in faith. Since then I’ve been coming for the summer but fortunately this year I’m here as the camp intern. I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing sports, reading novels, watching movies and I love baking.
“My life project is to create and illustrate a recipe book, complete with vegan and gluten-free desserts.”
To make reservations for the event, call the camp office at 906-214-2267.
A $15 donation is requested to cover lunch expenses.
