Artist sought to paint Bates Hall mural
BATES TOWNSHIP — The Bates Hall Preservation Society is conducting a contest to select an Iron County resident artist to paint an original mural highlighting the town’s farming, logging and mining heritage.
The painting will be approximately 28-by-5-feet on the north inside wall at the hall, 3070 E. U.S. 2.
The artists must have demonstrated mural experience to be eligible. For a complete copy of the contest rules, a photo of the wall for mural placement or to visit the hall, contact President Margee Brennan at 906-284-0988.
The rules and picture will also be posted on the society’s webpage at https://savebateshall.com and Facebook at Bates Hall Preservation Society.
Interested artists would be required to submit a color drawing/painting of the mural and an estimate for labor, including preparing the wall surface for the image and supplies.
Proposals can be mailed by 4 p.m. today to BHPS, P.O. Box 542, Iron River, MI 49936 or personally delivered to Sue Passamini at 116 Javoroski Road.
BHPS reserves the right to reject any or all drawings/paintings as a result of this contest.
