Band The Make Believe Spurs performs Thursday

The Make Believe Spurs will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the bandshell in downtown Norway. The concert is part of the Music in the Park summer series.
NORWAY — Music in the Park welcomes a new group to the stage this week, as The Make Believe Spurs present the fourth concert of the summer.
The free summertime music series begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at the band shell in downtown Norway.
The Make Believe Spurs, based in Marquette, have been busy performing all over the Midwest the past few years. Inspired by John Prine, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead and Nathaniel Rateliff, their sound flows from intimate harmonies into high-energy, dance-worthy performances.
The group employs the talents of guitarist/vocalist Brian Wallen, Molly Wallen on vocals and drummer/vocalist Mavis Farr.
“They’re sure to bring a fun show to the band shell, and we hope to have another great Music in the Park audience present to hear their performance,” event coordinator Carol Sundstrom said.
“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for this week’s Out to Lunch concert (also featuring The Make Believe Spurs) will enjoy the afternoon, have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful band shell park for an extended offering from this great trio,” she added.
Last week’s damp and gloomy evening moved the live music indoors at the Crossroads Alliance Church in Norway once again; however, the third Music in the Park concert in Norway did not disappoint, Sundstrom said.
Well-known local variety band Next Myle performed to a standing room-only crowd, with a concert ending with a standing ovation.
In case of inclement weather, concerts will take place at the Crossroads Church, home of Grace United Methodist/Bethany Lutheran, on Odill Drive behind the Norway Historical Museum on the east edge of Norway. For updates, go to the Norway Music in the Park Facebook page.
