CRYSTAL FALLS — Crystal Theatre will host filmmakers Anders and Davin Lindwall and celebrate the success of their movie “Green and Gold” with a screening at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

Both are graduates of West Iron County High School in Iron River, Anders in 2003 and Davin in 2010. “Green and Gold” is their first feature film. They will be at the theater that night to describe their challenges in this undertaking and answer questions after the screening.

The film was personal for the Lindwall brothers. “Grandsons of a dairy farmer and diehard Packers fans, my brother and I poured our hearts into this film,” Anders Lindwall said. “It’s our tribute to small-town communities and the values they stand for.”

Written and directed by Anders and produced by Davin and others, “Green and Gold” tells the story of a fourth-generation farmer fighting to preserve his family’s land and legacy against overwhelming odds. The leading role is played by well-known actor Craig T. Nelson.

“This story felt personal to me,” Nelson said in a past interview. “I felt a real connection to it because the Nelson family farm has been a working farm in South Dakota since the Civil War. ‘Green and Gold’ captures the tenacity of small-town farmers and the strength of family and community. I was honored to play Buck and highlight the dreams defining many lives in America’s heartland.”

Presented by Fathom Events, “Green and Gold” premiered nationwide on Jan. 31. In addition to Nelson, the film also stars Brandon Sklenar, Annabel Armour, Madison Lawlor and the late M. Emmet Walsh in his final screen performance. Featuring music by Jackson Browne and S. Carey, the film celebrates the resilience of small-town America.

The film is presented in collaboration with Culver’s, the Wisconsin-based restaurant chain, and the Green Bay Packers. This is the first time the NFL’s only community-owned pro football team has partnered with a feature film on this level.

Tickets will be sold at the door, at $10 for adults, $5 for children.

Starting at $3.50/week.
