The first week of the Food, Fun and Fitness, operated by the Florence County UW Extension, was packed with creativity, laughter and learning on a theme of “Under the Sea.” Participants wrote and illustrated their own stories, painted reusable bags, launched water balloons, planted micro-nutrients and even crafted their own oceans in a bottle. One of the highlights was a skit performed by their youth leaders. Shown are Gabe Bredy and Lucy Coyne. Food, Fun and Fitness is a summer day camp for children entering first through fifth grades. Mondays and Wednesdays are at Florence County Elementary School, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College site in Aurora, Wis.; students may only be enrolled in one location. The program started June 16 in Florence, Wis., and continues to July 16.
