Florence County University of Wisconsin-Extension’s Food,Fun and Fitness participants had the opportunity to visit Pellegrini’s Strawberry Farm in July, where they picked as many strawberries as they could during their time there. Afterwards they traveled to the City Park for some fun. After returning back at school, they had a blast building boats and testing how many rocks each one could hold before sinking — the record was more than 40 rocks. Other fun included playing environment-themed bingo with candy prizes, riding a smoothie bike, and practicing shape recognition by creating sea animals. The program is for children entering first through fifth grades.
