Grand Design Band to play for Audience Appreciation Concert

The Grand Design Band of the Escanaba/Gladstone area will perform for the Audience Appreciation Concert Thursday at Music in the Park in Norway. The concert will start at 6:30 p.m. at the bandshell on Main Street.

NORWAY — Music in the Park will will host an Audience Appreciation Concert featuring Grand Design Band on Thursday.

MIP has extended the 2025 series another week to recognize and show appreciation for all contributors.

The free summertime music program will conclude with this final show, with an earlier start time of 6:30 p.m. at the band shell in downtown Norway.

The Grand Design Band is a five-member group from the Escanaba/Gladstone area that performs a variety of classic rock, music of the ’50s and ’60s, a little country and many favorite cover tunes from early to modern.

“The band’s captivating, high-energy performance will ‘transport’ music fans back in time to keep you dancing, tapping your toes and singing the night away,” band member Mike Swanson said.

They’re sure to bring a fun season finale show to the band shell, and they are really looking forward to playing for a great Dickinson County audiences in Norway on Thursday, event coordinator Carol Sundstrom said.

Again, note the time change to 6:30 p.m.

As anticipated, the Marquette area band The DayDreamers gave an estimated 450 live music fans a top-shelf performance at the 10th Norway Music in the Park concert on Aug. 14.

“We are so grateful for the amazing support we’ve had for Music in the Park 2025, and this additional concert is our way to say ‘thank you’ to every single individual, business, family or civic organization that has made the season possible,” Sundstrom said. “The Grand Design Band has a Cadillacs band sort of vibe, so bring your dancing shoes.”

In case of inclement weather, concerts will be at the Crossroads Church (Grace United Methodist/Bethany Lutheran) on Odill Drive, behind the Norway Historical Museum on the east edge of Norway. Check the Norway Music in the Park Facebook page for updates if the weather is questionable.
