IC Genealogical Society meets Thursday
IRON RIVER — The Iron County Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the West Iron District Library in the J. Patrick White conference room in Iron River.
The group will host representatives from the Duke of Abruzzi Lodge of Caspian. The clubhouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, and is over 100-years-old. The organization was one of the Italian mutual benefit associations and was named for the Duke of the Province of Abruzzi.
Dedicated volunteers have been conducting rummage sales to accrue funds for restoration projects on the building. In addition, games and tournaments are held on the popular Joseph Polich Bocce Courts on the grounds.
Visitors are welcome to all monthly meetings, which take place in the J. Patrick White conference room of the West Iron District Library.
