Music in the Park on Thursday

The DayDreamers
NORWAY — This week, Music in the Park will again partner with Iron Mountain’s Out to Lunch for the fourth and final “Double Header” concert of the summer.
The DayDreamers will perform for the 10th concert at both venues. The free summertime music series will continue at 11:45 a.m. Thursday in Iron Mountain and at 7 p.m. at the band shell in downtown Norway.
Delivering hits from yesterday and today, the Daydreamers’ full five-piece band has more than 100 years of combined musical experience.
Centered in and around Marquette, they have performed in a variety of venues and festivals across the Upper Peninsula, including Grand Marais, Forestville and Marquette’s Sea Food Fest. The duo of frontline singers Jack Bauer and Nick Johnson, both on guitar and vocals, will keep you tapping your toes and asking for more.
The band also features top-shelf musicians on bass, drums and keyboards — all of whom will be introduced during their show — and they will have Band Shell Park rocking. The band looks very forward to playing for great Dickinson County audiences in both Iron Mountain and Norway.
“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for this week’s Out to Lunch concert with the DayDreamers will enjoy the afternoon, have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful Band Shell Park for this, our final regular performance of this summer’s fabulous series, as the band gets to ‘stretch out’ for a full 90-minute show — bring your dancing shoes.” event coordinator Carol Sundstrom said.
With possibly the nicest weather evening of the summer, an overflow crowd at last week’s concert with Norton, Chartier & Company really enjoyed the music.
Music in the Park is grateful for the financial support received from several organizations, businesses and individuals this year, without whom this concert series would not be possible. Major underwriters include: this week’s “Spotlight” Sponsor, Norway Township; John and Nancy Sundstrom; Jim’s Music of Iron Mountain; Darlene Asselin, in memory of William Asselin; The Norway Senior Center; The Curtis J. Brackett Memorial Foundation; Northern Interstate Bank – Norway and surrounding areas; The Holmberg Agency of Norway; The Iron Mountain Iron Mine in Vulcan; The Law Offices of Mouw and Celello, Iron Mountain; Carrie Toretta-Partello, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group of Iron Mountain; Steven and Debra Tinti; Larry and Kathy Bourdeau; Preferred Powersports of Norway; Tourism Association of the Dickinson County Area; Vulcan-Norway-Loretto Lions Club; media support from WJNR-WOBE-WHTO Radio, The Iron Mountain Daily News, the Advertiser; and numerous individual and anonymous sponsors. This support is greatly appreciated.
The final upcoming Music in the Park performance will be Aug. 21 as they present a special 11th audience appreciation concert featuring the Grand Design Band from Delta County.
In case of inclement weather, concerts will be at the Crossroads Church (Grace United Methodist/Bethany Lutheran) on Odill Drive, behind the Norway Historical Museum on the east edge of Norway. Check the Norway Music in the Park Facebook page for updates if the weather is questionable.
