NORWAY — Music in the Park welcomes Norton, Chartier & Company, a seasoned band that is no stranger to the series on Thursday to present the ninth concert of the summer. The free summer music series will continue at 7 p.m. Thursday at the bandshell in downtown Norway.
Norton, Chartier & Company is led by Bob Norton and Jim Chartier of Iron Mountain. They have been performing for some 28 years or more.
“We have been blessed to have awesome wives, families and friends that have always supported us and our playing all these years,” said Norton. “We still have fun every time we get on stage and we look forward to playing in Norway.”
The band performs a mixture of classic easy rock music from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
They’ll bring a fun show with lots of audience favorites to the band shell, said event coordinator Carol Sundstrom.
“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for this week’s ‘Out to Lunch’ concert, featuring Black Pearl, will enjoy the afternoon, have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful bandshell park for this our ninth free performance of this summer’s fabulous series,” she added.
The band looks forward to playing for a great Dickinson County audience this week, Norton said.
A beautiful summer evening Thursday saw music fans packing the band shell park once again for the eighth concert in Norway. The River Cities Big Band gave swing era and big band fans a full night of musical offerings spanning some 80 years.
In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held at the Crossroads Church (Grace United Methodist/Bethany Lutheran) on Odill Drive, behind the Norway Historical Museum on the east edge of Norway. Check the Norway Music in the Park facebook page for updates if the weather is questionable.
