UW-Stevens Point announces honor students

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored more than 2,400 undergraduate students for attaining high grade-point averages during the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 (4.0 equals straight A) are given the highest honors designation. High honor citations go to those with GPAs from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with GPAs from 3.50 to 3.74.

Students who received honors include:

Florence, Wis. — Caitlyn Kelley, High Honors; Jacob Lambert, Highest Honors; Leighton Lambert, Honors; and Leah Young, High Honors.

MILWAUKEE — Two area students graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee.

There were 2,845 students who graduated from Marquette in May.

The university celebrated its 144th commencement with a series of events, including graduate recognition ceremonies at Fiserv Forum and a baccalaureate Mass on campus.

They include:

Iron River — Robbie Quayle, bachelor of arts, history; and

Vulcan — Holly Mattia, master of science, clinical mental health counseling.

MILWAUKEE — These students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2025 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

To make the dean’s list, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the spring semester and have no disqualifying grades. The grade-point average threshold varies by college for the College of Education and the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduate students must have at least a 3.7 to be named to the dean’s list.

The undergraduate GPA requirement is 3.5 for these colleges: the Diederich College of Communication, the College of Business Administration, the College of Health Sciences, the Opus College of Engineering and the College of Nursing. All other programs have a 3.75 GPA minimum.

Local students named:

Channing — Masyn Alexa, master’s degree, physician assistant studies; and

Iron River — Robbie Quayle, bachelor of arts, history.

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Brookelyn Coan of Kingsford was named to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh spring 2025 dean’s list.

The term grade-point average requirement for honor roll is 3.3; the term GPA requirement for dean’s list is 3.75 out of a possible 4.0. To qualify, a student must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own grade-point average requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction.

Local students are:

Florence, Wis. — Aiden Colenso, College of Engineering, Dean’s Honor List; Isabella Millan, School of Human Ecology, Dean’s Honor List; and Kathleen Selden, Law School, Dean’s List.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Justin Gasparas of Florence, Wis., was named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

To be named to the dean’s list, a full-time undergraduate must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an “A” and “B” average.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Florence, Wis., student Sidney Tomczak, majoring in industrial and systems engineering, was among 700 graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville this spring.
