The event was in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, with the goal of raising funds and awareness for Upper Peninsula kids who are bravely fighting cancer.

Leo Club members encouraged fans to wear gold — the color symbolizing childhood cancer awareness — and took donations throughout the evening. They went through the stands collecting contributions and handed out gold bead necklaces to those who donated.

“The support from our community was incredible,” one club member said. “It was great to see so many people helping such an important cause.”

All proceeds from the event will go to U.P. Lions Serve Childhood Cancer to assist local children and their families as they face the challenges of cancer treatment.

The Leo Club, sponsored by the Vulcan-Norway-Loretto Lions Club, continues to live up to its mission of service and community involvement through projects like this.
