Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care to meet Monday
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care will meet Monday at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.
Registration will be open from 5 to 6 p.m., with the meeting to begin promptly at 6 p.m. Individual members will register by last name; team members will check in under their captain’s name.
The club will host a pizza buffet for $10 per person for anyone wishing to eat after the meeting.
Those who are going to nominate a charity are asked to verify their 501(c)(3) status beforehand.
For those not familiar with the group, 100-Plus Women meets quarterly and provides a $100 donation, either as individual or team.
Those donating can nominate organizations/members to speak at the gathering and answer questions.
Only three organizations/members are picked to speak, with five minutes of information and five minutes for questions.
Members attending then vote — one vote per $100 donation — on their choice to receive the entire sum donated for the quarter.
“The Friends of the Fair were the recipients of $16,969 at the last meeting. At the meeting they will share what they did with the money,” said Trisha Peterson from Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care.
The 100-Plus Women have given back to the community almost $800,000. The group is excited to get to that $1 million mark, so they are really encouraging members to bring new people so they can achieve this goal more quickly.
They invite individuals or groups to join 100-Plus Women at any quarter gathering.
“The more members we have, the more money we can donate,” Peterson said.
