KINGSFORD — A pessimist looks out the window and sighs, four months of cold weather ahead. An optimist looks out and excitedly wonders where are the skis and is there gas in the snowmobile? A Golden K senior looks out the window and decides a warmer coat will be needed. Like clockwork, Monday morning means the Golden K meeting is happening.
Chairperson Kathy Jo Anderson gathered the group together and began opening ceremonies. Alyce Derwinski readies her piano and Lois Outcelt reviews the songs to be sung. Members settle into their places. Nostalgic music chases the chill away and fills the room with warmth.
Golden K members welcome Lynn LaVigne, who recently joined the club. Happy Birthday wishes were sung for Larry Lindholm. Welcome guests included Steve Roell and Joan Oliver. Happy Dollars included thanks for guests. Gilbert Engel is for grateful for the end of lawn mowing. Veterans in attendance received hand-made cards thanking them for their service. The cards were thoughtfully made by Renee Lindow.
Guest speaker Steve Roell is a past owner and partner at The Drug Store. He considered retirement but was not quite ready, so he opted to obtain a license in the insurance business, Eagle Insurance.
Roell specifically works assisting people in finding the Medicare health care program that works best for them. He was aware of the confusion and questions seniors have surrounding plans, especially at enrollment time.
He uses his expertise to help sort out plans for Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, and Part D Drug options.
Television and news can inundate seniors with many choices, resulting in confusion. He answers questions from people who need to change and evaluate their plans.
Roell fielded questions and offered suggestions to the Golden K members. He can help one gain a better understanding of their plan. Questions arise when plans change or no longer service an area.
Best of all, Roell’s services are provided at no cost. Hospitals, medical centers and doctors periodically change their acceptance policies. Questions are endless and Roell can help navigate the answers for you. Sound health and financial decisions benefit everyone.
“The right plan isn’t just coverage — it’s confidence for the years ahead,” Roell said.
Roell can be reached at steve@eagleinsurancecompany.org or 906-396-8155.
Golden K will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, with Karen Klenke discussing Prayer Shawl Ministry. All are welcome.
