Sweig honored with DAR Good Citizen Award

Elesia Sweig

NIAGARA, Wis. — The Daughters of the American Revolution has named Elesia Maree Sweig, daughter of Heather and David Sweig, as this year’s Niagara High School’s DAR Good Citizen Award recipient.

At 18, Sweig stands out for her strong character, academic excellence, and dedication to school and community. She is ranked number one in her class with a 3.9 grade-point average, and credits her parents as her greatest role models, saying their hard work, honesty, compassion, and resilience have inspired her to always strive for her best.

She plans to pursue a career as a physical therapy assistant, though she remains undecided on where she will attend school. Outside the classroom, she enjoys staying active, working out, spending time with friends and family, going on walks, and exploring new places. She also works as a babysitter during the summer and on weekends and is employed at the Bean Box.

She has been deeply involved in school activities throughout her high school career, participating in basketball, volleyball, softball, theater, forensics, student council, National Honor Society, one act, and serving as a class officer. Her leadership includes serving as volleyball captain her senior year and representing her school at the Student Council Retreat/HYC Summit in ninth grade. This year, she was selected as an ALA Badger Girls State delegate.

Sweig has earned numerous honors, including an academic letter, the Badger Award in softball twice, the coaches award in volleyball, a Spanish speaking award, and three state forensics medals. She also was on the Miss Niagara Court in 10th and 11th grade before being crowned Miss Niagara 2025 and was selected for prom court as a junior and homecoming court as a senior.

Her dedication extends to the community, where she has volunteered at events such as the Aurora Mud Runs, Lions Club Food Tent and Raffle, St. Anthony’s fish fries, steak fries, and spaghetti dinners, Salvation Army bell ringing, refereeing youth events, working concession stands, and coaching at the Great 8 Winter Games.

Her dependability, service, leadership and patriotism exemplify the qualities recognized by the DAR Good Citizen Award. Her school and community congratulate her on this well-deserved honor and look forward to seeing her continue to excel in all she pursues.

Starting at $3.50/week.
