AARP Foundation, library seek Tax-Aide volunteers
IRON MOUNTAIN — The AARP Foundation and the Dickinson County Library are looking to expand their team of volunteers for the upcoming tax season by recruiting individuals interested in tax preparation.
Tax-Aide is an AARP Foundation program with the mission to provide high quality, free income tax preparation to low and moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 50 and older.
Last year, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 70,000 Michigan residents file their federal and state tax returns. The program is offered at nearly 200 sites in Michigan — six in the Upper Peninsula — including senior centers, libraries and other convenient locations.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers receive training and continued support in a welcoming environment. Volunteer tax preparers complete tax preparation training and IRS certification prior to working with taxpayers.
An appointment taker and volunteer tax preparers are currently needed in the Iron Mountain area.
Anyone interested in becoming a tax-aide volunteer can sign-up at aarpfoundation.org/taxaide, or call 906-256-0584.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in coordination with the IRS.
