Authorpalooza on Saturday at the Crystal Falls Library

Dana D. Saugstad

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls District Community Library will host its seventh-annual Authorpalooza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the library.

“This year we have a very exciting lineup,” Director Evelyn Gathu said. “I try really hard to find exceptional works by local authors, along with having a variety of different genres and something for all different age levels.”

This year will feature six different authors, all selling and autographing their work. They include:

— Dana D. Saugstad of Quinnesec with her children’s picture book, “The Twelve Days of a Yooper Christmas.”

— Nikki Mitchell of Negaunee will have the latest installment in her Magic Shoebox Series, “An Unlucky Companion,” along with an Eleanor Mason’s Literary Adventures Compilation Edition and various picture books for children to buy.

— John Edward Budris of Iron River will bring his poetry debut, “Each Life is a Philosophy: Poems From a Human Condition.”

— Anne Miller of Iron River has just released, “Oblivious,” which is the final installment of her “The Last Photograph” book series. She will have all the books from that series for sale.

— Todd Worple of Florence, Wis., will have his memoir, “Call of the Raven: a Young Couple’s Venture into the Wilderness of Southeast Alaska.”

— Jim Jackson will offer his latest book, the second in his “Niki Undercover” series for sale, “Niki Unleashed.” He will also have his first “Niki” book, along with all 10 of the books he has written in his “Seamus McCree” series.

Gathu noted that Authorpalooza is one of her favorite events of the year. “Dana has a great Yooper children’s book. Nikki, Jim, and Ann are all favorite local authors of our library — you will enjoy their work — excellent books of romance, fantasy, and thrills. I am overjoyed to be hosting John, as poetry is one of my favorite things to read. I have known Todd for years, and it is so wonderful that he has finally achieved one of his goals of writing a book about his time in Alaska,” she said.

Everyone is encouraged to come to the event to shop local, which benefits the community.

She is also challenging patrons to read local as well. “You will not believe the talent we have right here in our area,” she added.

The public is invited to come to get their holiday shopping done by purchasing a book as a gift. “You will be buying wonderful personalized gifts, along with supporting local authors. What can be better than that?” said Gathu

The Crystal Falls District Community Library is at 237 Superior Ave., downtown Crystal Falls. If you have any questions, call Gathu at 906-875-3344 or at egathu@crystalfallslibrary.org.
