Marshfield-Dickinson staff supports local families with annual Socktober Drive
IRON MOUNTAIN — Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson dining services department hosts its annual Socktober fundraiser in October to collect new, unused socks from staff to help community members in need.
At the end of the donation period, the department doubles the impact by matching the number of socks collected with an additional contribution.
This year’s effort was a tremendous success, said Joe Rizzo, Marshfield MI Area Public Relations Director.
Staff donated 156 pairs of socks, and dining services matched that total, plus six extra pairs, bringing the grand total to 318 pairs of socks.
All donations were delivered to the Salvation Army to ensure they reach local families in need.
“Thanks to a great team effort, we were able to make a meaningful difference,” Rizzo said. “We’re proud to support this event and hope these socks bring warmth and comfort to everyone throughout the winter season.”
“Winter can be especially harsh for those we serve,” Dickinson County Salvation Army Director Tara Cross said. “Donations like these provide comfort and dignity to people in need. We’re grateful to Marshfield and its staff for their generosity and commitment to the community.”
