IRON MOUNTAIN — Kingsford High School personal finance students joined 13 business professionals for a dynamic mock interview event at Bay College Iron Mountain campus Jan. 6.
The event marked the culmination of Lorrie Vross’ careers unit, giving students the chance to practice real-world interview skills with leaders from across the community.
The morning began with a presentation on career readiness by Sarah Micheau, talent specialist from Michigan Works!
When students were not interviewing, they participated in breakout sessions led by Amy Gibbs, director of Career and Workforce Development at Bay College. Topics included professional introductions, values exploration, SMART goals, workplace behaviors, career salaries, and interview preparation.
Each student completed two interviews and received personalized critiques from employers to help them evaluate and strengthen their skills. The event aimed to leave students better prepared for their future careers and reinforced the importance of community partnerships in education.
