ESCANABA — Bay College is featuring an exhibition by artist and printmaker Dave Berg, with a reception and artist talk planned for 2 p.m. Eastern time Thursday in the Hartwig Gallery.

Berg is a self-taught printmaker who has been refining his craft since 2018. A native of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Berg draws much of his inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes near his home in Marquette. His work reflects a deep connection to the region, with each print offering viewers a window into the rugged beauty of the U.P.’s wilderness.

His intricate works, inspired by the region’s natural landscapes, are created through the delicate and demanding reduction printmaking process. Each piece reflects not only artistic vision but also mastery of a complex technique that requires precision, patience and a willingness to take risks.

“The art I create is bound to my process of reduction printing,” Berg said. “Hand carving and inking multiple layers of textures and colors to produce a work that invites the viewer to immerse themselves into the experience of the artist and connect at a deeper level with the subject.”

The exhibition will be on display through Feb. 26. The event is free and open to the public.

Starting at $3.50/week.
