Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care meets Monday
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care will host its 39th gathering on Monday at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.
Registration will be open from 5 to 6 p.m., with the meeting to begin promptly at 6 p.m. Individual members will register by last name; team members will check in under their captain’s name.
The club will host a pizza buffet for $10 per person for anyone wishing to eat after the meeting. The bar will be open from 5 to 5:50 p.m. and again after the meeting.
Those who are going to nominate a charity are asked to verify their 501(c)(3) status beforehand.
For those not familiar with the group, 100-Plus Women meets quarterly and provides a $100 donation, either as individual or team.
Those donating can nominate organizations/members to speak at the gathering and answer questions.
Only three organizations/members are picked to speak, with five minutes of information and five minutes for questions.
Members attending then vote — one vote per $100 donation — on their choice to receive the entire sum donated for the quarter.
Not all team members have email addresses, so everyone is asked to make sure your team members knows the date for the meeting.
They also ask that attendees to make sure you are prepared to pay if not all teammates are present. Members can gather checks from those absent in advance.
“The Cure was the recipients last meeting, and this meeting they will share what they did with the money. We collected $16,600 for The Cure in Iron Mountain‚” said Trisha Peterson of Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care.
The 100-Plus Women have given back to the community almost $830,000.
“We can’t wait to get to $1 million, so we are really encouraging our members to bring new people so we can achieve this goal quicker,” she added.
The group is looking to grow its numbers to support these organizations with more money each time. They invite individuals or groups to join 100-Plus Women at any quarter gathering.
“Every $100 donation is a vote — it can be one person or a team of two or more people,” Peterson said.
