IRON MOUNTAIN — Local author Jessie Garcia will visit the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Garcia, an award-winning sports journalist, will speak on her years working with the Green Bay Packers. She was Wisconsin’s first female sports anchor and is currently news director at the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee.

Her non-fiction books, “My Life with the Green and Gold: Tales from 20 Years of Sportscasting” and “Going for Wisconsin Gold: Stories of our State Olympians” won Midwest Book Awards.

Her books will be available for purchase, as well as signing. A drawing will be done to win a free book.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about sports journalism and writing both fiction and nonfiction.
