Six from IMHS to attend Michigan Youth Leadership Conference

IRON MOUNTAIN — Six Iron Mountain High School sophomores have been selected to attend MYLead — the Michigan Youth Leadership Conference — this summer on the Michigan State University campus.
Those attending include Calleigh Galeazzi, Olivia Geneva-Moore, Bryce Johnson, Cadence Lucas, Signe Trindal and Monroe Vedin have been selected to attend
— Galeazzi is the daughter of Angela Galeazzi of Iron Mountain. During her time at Iron Mountain High School, she has played soccer and volleyball both years. She was a member of the freshman class club last year and is currently a member of the sophomore class club and Tri-Hi-Y. She has achieved high honor roll status this year. Outside of the classroom, Galeazzi attends youth group at Immaculate Conception church and likes to hang out with friends and family.
— Geneva-Moore is the daughter of Jennifer Geneva of Iron Mountain. She has been very active at IMHS as an athlete and in clubs. She has played soccer and basketball both years, serving as varsity basketball captain, and participates in tennis and track. She is a two-year member of Youth Advisory Council , Tri-Hi-Y, and varsity club. She also served on student council, and sophomore class club. She volunteers as a mentor in Big Brothers and Big Sisters and was a member of the freshman class club last year. She has earned high honor roll status and has acquired more than 400 volunteer hours. Away from school,Geneva-Moore enjoys attending youth group at Immaculate Conception, baking, hanging out with friends and family and going to the beach.
— Johnson is the son of Andrew and Kayla Johnson of Iron Mountain. He has been a very involved student athlete. He has been a member of the high school swim team both years, the NLYMCA swim team for seven years, and ran cross country both years. He was the U.P. Swimming champion in the 100 fly and 200 medley relay his freshman year, in addition to being on the MISCA All U.P. Swim Team in 2025. On top of athletics, he has been a jazz band member for three years, and on the pep band and marching band for two years. He is also a key club and Spanish club member and served as freshman and sophomore class vice president and student council representative for two years. Johnson was on the earned honor roll for both years. In his free time, he works as a lifeguard for the YMCA; is a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran, where he ushers and is a youth group member; and likes to hunt, fish, read and work out.
— Lucas is the daughter of Christopher Lucas of Iron Mountain and the late Desiree Phillips of Iron Mountain. She has been very involved at Iron Mountain High School. She is a two-year member of key club, where she served as treasurer, and Varsity Club and has been a member of Youth Advisory Council for three years. She has also been a member of student council, Tri-Hi-Y, environmental club, and Health Occupations Students of America, or HOSA. She is also an athlete, playing volleyball and club volleyball as well as participating in track. She has earned high and highest honor roll status throughout high school and serves as a Lake Antoine Park board member. Outside of the classroom, she works at a daycare, attends church and enjoys hanging out with friends and family.
— Trindal is the daughter of Matthew Trindal and Kelly Hayes of Iron Mountain. She has been very involved at IMHS, participating in student council, drama club, varsity club and freshman class club, where she served as secretary. She has been a varsity bowler for the past two years and is a varsity cheerleader. She has earned honor roll status both years of high school. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, taking classes at 906 Dance Academy, voice acting and being in Casting Call Club.
— Vedin is the daughter of Cory and Faith Vedin of Randville and Jacalyn and David Blomquist of Iron Mountain. She is a very involved student-athlete who is a two-year member of Key Club and student council. She also participates in Spanish club, Tri-Hi-Y, environmental club and varsity club, where she served as a student representative. She is a student mentor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters and is a three-year member of Youth Advisory Council. Vedin has been on varsity basketball both years and played volleyball both years, where she is captain of the JV team. She has also been a member of the varsity golf team. She has earned high and highest honors throughout high school. Outside of the classroom, she likes to travel, attend church and hang out with friends and family.
My Lead is a three-day student leadership conference that encourages students to step outside their comfort zone, learn about different leadership styles, learn how to motivate others and engage in goal setting, public speaking and more.
