4-H Club volunteers, members recognized at awards banquet

NORWAY — Dickinson County 4-H Club had its annual recognition and awards banquet at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. The banquet provides an opportunity for 4-H Club members, volunteers and community supporters to be recognized for their contributions to the Dickinson County 4-H Club program. Several community youth members who have shown excellence in specific project areas were among those honored.
4-H Club council member Kim Wright welcomed everyone. Dinner was purchased from Super One Foods, and MarketPlace Foods by the council. “We are thankful for their support over past years,” Wright said.
Walmart donated the cake for dessert and 4-H Club members made food donations.
Speakers were Caitlin Parker and Jennifer Cooper.
Youth and Volunteer Awards were presented by Kim Wright, Emma Wright, Caitlin Parker, Nevaeh Ponchaud, Victoria Cooper, and Jessica Ice. Awards were presented to Cloverbuds Nolan Arcand, Maverick Kelly, Leo Moraska, Daphne Parker and Lance Cayemberg.

Junior Awards were given to Carter Arcand for poultry; McKenna Miller and Mya Wright for goat; Sophia Deau, Sofiea Merrill and Isaiah Wright for swine; Axel Maahs for horse; and Nevaeh Ponchaud for sewing.
Senior awards were presented to Victoria Cooper and Emma Wright for goat, Caitlin Parker and Kylie Wright for horse, Caitlin Parker and Emma Wright for demonstration, Victoria Cooper for showmanship, Kylie Wright for personal development and Emma Wright for teen leader.
Adult awards and mentions were new leaders Lorna March and Tricia Schewe. First-year leader pins went to Joyce Erickson, Ricarda Steigerwald, Christine Erkkila, Liane Arnold and Emily Gunville. A 15-year leader pin was awarded to Tabitha Parker.
Leaders of the year pins were awarded to Jennifer Cooper, Mary Yeadon and Kim Wright. Lamp of Knowledge pins were awarded to Jennifer Cooper, and Ashley Edwards.
Other leaders mentioned were second year, Molly Stenfors, Mary Yeadon, Ishaia Carpenter and Katie Wright; third year, Robert Bozile and Sami Ann Flesher; fourth year, Ashley Edwards; sixth year, Ted Jensen; seventh year, Sarah Freiberg; eighth year, Derek Gagne and Kim Wright; ninth year, Jennifer Cooper; and 26th years, Sharon Maahs.

Friend of 4-H Club Award went to Tractor Supply Company, Christine Dessellier, manager. TSC has supported 4-H Club since they opened their store here.
“We are grateful for all they do,” Wright said.
Jessica Ice, 4-H Club coordinator for the past 10 years, was the guest of honor for her commitment to Dickinson County 4-H Club program, youth and volunteers. Council and members awarded her with a plaque and gift certificate and lots of well wishes.
“She will be sadly missed. Many thanks to Mona Servia and Suzette Stenfors for all their help, I couldn’t have done without them. Thank you to Katie Wright for taking pictures,” Wright said.
