Brunch fundraiser planned Saturday
IRON RIVER — The Community Christian Women organization invites women of all ages to a March Meals Madness Brunch from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grace Covenant Church in Iron River.
The brunch is free, and women are asked to bring nonperishable food items that will be donated to the local St. Vincent de Paul food pantries in both Iron River and Crystal Falls.
St. Vincent de Paul volunteer Gale Cerney will be on hand to answer questions about the food pantries and give ideas for other ways to be supportive of the organization.
“Let’s help feed our community while enjoying brunch and fun,” club spokeswoman Carla Thoune said.
Thoune described the kinds of non-perishables that are requested as part of the program. “Bring foods that can easily be put together for a balanced meal — for example, macaroni and cheese with canned green beans and fruit cocktail,” she said.
“While we’re enjoying the brunch together, there will be prizes for games for grouping the donated foods together for ‘best meals.’ We always have fun and good times at our gatherings,” said Lyn Shoquist, another CCW member.
