IRON MOUNTAIN — Over the past 30 years, Pine Mountain Christian School has completed more than 100 Bible Labs — community outreach projects that are aimed toward teaching students the importance of sharing the love of Jesus through acts of service.

This school year, PMCS has completed multiple Bible Labs, but their most recent lab, “Being God’s Hands,” was one that saw students and their families, as well as school staff and church members, collect and donate items to help patients of the Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson cancer center get through treatments.

Students of PMCS collected 34 handmade mittens, 127 pairs of cozy socks, 40 packets of hot chocolate and several handmade hats to donate to the cancer center. A generous local woman donated her time and helped knit and crochet all the mittens and hats that were donated.

Students then tied tags with words of encouragement onto each item and together, along with staff, placed their hands on donations to pray over them and to pray for those who would be receiving them.

“The students really put their all into this lab,” said Kim Swanson, PMCS home and school leader. “I shared with them about my daughter who went through chemo, and how during treatments she and other patients are often cold. They were all so happy to do something that they felt would help, and you could see the joy they had when praying over the items and the recipients.”
