DCCC seeks singers for summer concert
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Chorus will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, May 5, for the “Music Under the Stars” concert celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States. The theme this year is “America, the Beautiful.”
The Dickinson County Community Chorus is looking for adults and children to participate in the chorus. They encourage singers to pre-register, but walk-ins at the first rehearsal are welcome.
All rehearsals will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford.
There is no charge for membership in the chorus, and there are no auditions. However, prospective new members should possess some knowledge of choral singing.
“We have planned an outstanding selection of Americana music that will be exciting for singers and audience alike,” DCCC Principal Conductor Crystal Hogan said. “The programs will include many songs that celebrate our beautiful country, including gospel, folk, patriotic and popular standards. The songs are catchy and familiar and will invite you to hum and sing along.”
