Dickinson library book sale this weekend
IRON MOUNTAIN — Upcoming events at the Dickinson County Library will include:
— Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale: Today and Sunday, during library hours.
Find great deals on brand new books, audiobooks, cookbooks, DVDs, CDs and more.
— Book Breakdown — “Deer Mother”: 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
Nature photographer David Heritsch will share a slide show and stories on wild mother deer Daisy and her fawn family he has followed and photographed for years. Enjoy the beauty of nature, the sweetness of these deer, and how they inspired his new book, “Deer Mother,” which will be available for purchase and signing.
— Crafty Creations — Miniature Library: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain; 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Solomonson Branch, Norway; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the North Dickinson Branch. Registration is required; call respective branch to register.
Attendees will get to create their own personal miniature library with such items as miniature books, lamps, artwork, etc.
— BIG Time Storytime: Tuesday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain; Friday at the North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township; and Tuesday, April 28, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. All sessions are 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Children through age 5 will learn BIG things through singing, dancing, and storytelling. They will also learn about BIG ideas, animals and more. Storytimes build early literacy, communication and fine motor skills.
— Bow Wows and Books: 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Solomonson Branch in Norway. Registration is required; call 906-563-8617.
Patrons of all ages and reading abilities are invited to read to therapy dogs. Time slots are 15 minutes long.
— Woodsy Dude Beeswax Luminaries: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. Registration is required; call 906-774-1218.
Joshua Stuck will lead a class on how to make beeswax luminaries. Each participant will be able to make and take home their own beeswax luminary. This program is for ages 10 through adult.
— Gamers’ Club: 3:15 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the North Dickinson Branch, Felch Township.
The program offers a school activity for third through eighth grades. Kids can play their favorite video games and board games. Games such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. and Minecraft will be available.
