Florianos establish new scholarship at KHS

KINGSFORD — Kingsford High School has announced the establishment of the Joe and Marilu Floriano Scholarship, designed to provide financial assistance to graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education.

Joe Floriano, KHS Class of 1971, and Marilu (Branback) Floriano, KHS Class of 1972, established the scholarship to reflect their lifelong connection to their alma mater and their desire to support the next generation of Flivvers.

The scholarship is specifically tailored to assist students entering a trade or technical field, as well as those pursuing degrees in business management.

To be eligible, applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade-point average. While academic standing is important, the donors wish to recognize well-rounded individuals; therefore, preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community involvement and service.

The Board of Education of Breitung Township Schools and the administration of Kingsford High School are pleased to coordinate such a meaningful scholarship for the Floriano family and KHS graduates.

Individuals interested in establishing a scholarship can contact Scholarship Coordinator Jamie Lockhart at 431 Hamilton Ave., Kingsford, MI 49802; call 906-779-2670, ext. 4; or email jlockhart@kingsford.org.

Starting at $3.50/week.
