Wausaukee Public Library offers summer programs

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — The Wausaukee Public Library invites children, teens and adults to join this year’s free Summer Library Program, filled with dinosaurs, creativity, science, reading and hands-on fun.

Programs will be at 1 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the summer and are geared primarily toward children ages 4 through 11, though families and all ages are welcome to attend.

This year’s dinosaur-themed “Unearth Your Story” summer program includes dinosaur-themed art, geode cracking, aquatic creepy critters, rock painting, terrariums, big trucks and more.

The Summer Program schedule is —

— June 10: Spray Bottle Dinosaur Art. Participants will create giant dinosaur silhouette art using spray bottles and paint.

— June 17: Katie Barrs and Her Animals. Patrons can meet some amazing animals up close.

— June 24: Crack a Geode at Pike River Prospecting. Attendees should meet at Pike River Prospecting for a hands-on geology experience. Pre-register at library.

— July 1: Aquatic Creepy Critters. Attendees will explore fascinating water creatures and learn about local waterways.

— July 8: Dinosaur Terrariums. Participants will create miniature dinosaur worlds in mason jar terrariums.

— July 15: Rock Painting. Participants are invited to paint colorful rocks with dinosaur-themed designs.

— July 22: Big Trucks Day. Attendees will get an up-close look at excavators and other heavy equipment.

— July 29: Dinosaur Egg Excavation. Those who attend will dig for fossils and hidden treasures.

— Aug. 5: End-of-Summer Water Party. Participants are invited to celebrate the end of summer with water games, hot dogs, and outdoor fun.

The library is also hosting a Summer Reading Challenge for all ages.

Children through age 11 can earn prizes for reading —

— 10 days = book bag;

— 20 days = free book;

— 30 days = Marinette County Fair pass.

Children completing 30 days will be entered into a special prize drawing as well.

Teens ages 12 through 18 can earn:

— 10 days = free book;

— 30 days = Marinette County Fair pass.

Teens also earn prize drawing tickets for every 10 days of reading.

Adults ages 19 and older can earn prize drawing tickets for every 10 days they read throughout the summer.

Reading days do not need to be consecutive. Reading logs must be turned in by Aug. 3 to be included in prize drawings.
