IRON RIVER — First National Bank & Trust recently made a $1,240 donation to the Locker Lunch program.
The organization’s ongoing mission is to supply bags of nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to children throughout Iron County during the weekend until school resumes during the week.
The Locker Lunch program started in October 2011, serving children at West Iron Elementary School in Iron River.
In 2013, they accomplished their goal of including Forest Park Schools.
Today, the non-profit includes both school districts and provides 10 to 12 items that include breakfast, lunch and snacks.
Over the first quarter of the year, First National Bank & Trust staff made financial donations to wear denim on designated days.
This past quarter they raised the money for the Locker Lunch program.
The program solely depends on the generosity of the community and 99.9% of all donations go directly toward food purchasing.
