Summer Reading events set at the Crystal Falls Library

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Summer Reading program has begun at the Crystal Falls Library, with the theme for this year being “Unearth a Story.”

Kids will learn all kinds of things about dinosaurs. Refreshments are served at each event.

— Story Hour, ages 5 to 8: Thursday, 1:30 p.m., and Friday, 11:30 a.m. The kids will use tools to unearth some surprises out of dinosaur eggs. They will also learn some science along the way.

— Story Hour, ages 9 to 12: Thursday, 3 p.m., and Friday, 1 p.m. The kids will participate in a Jurassic Spelling Bee with prizes.

— Summer Family Night: Thursday, 6 p.m., featuring Marquette musician Troy Graham, who will perform an interactive dinosaur concert for all ages to enjoy. He has written some songs about his favorite dinosaurs, and he hopes the audience is ready to share their favorites, too.

Week 2 — Paleontology Week

— Babies Story Hour: Tuesday, 10 a.m. After engaging in some dinosaur-themed board books, the babies will dig for dinosaurs.

— Toddlers Story Hour: Wednesday, June 24, 9 a.m. After reading some stories, the kids will be sorting dinosaurs, learning about shapes and colors.

— Preschoolers Story Hour: Wednesday, June 24, 10 a.m. Preschoolers will listen to some dinosaur tales and then excavate some dinosaurs that have been frozen in ice.

— Louie Raffaelli program: Wednesday, June 24, 6 p.m., Raffaelli, an Albion College Class of 2028 paleontology student, will shares the story of paleontology from its early days to the present and everything in-between. From explosive sabotage to shifting world views, paleontology has gone through it all. It’s your chance to enter the conversation and learn about dinosaurs like you never have before from a real-live dinosaur hunter.

— Children 5-8 Story Hour: Thursday, June 25, 1:30 p.m., and Friday, June 26, 11:30 a.m. The kids will complete some Pasta Paleontology as they construct dinosaurs out of different-shaped pastas.

— Children 9-12 Story Hour: Thursday, June 25, 3 p.m., and Friday, June 26, 1 p.m. The kids will learn all about Latin roots, and will name and create their own dinosaurs.

— Family Night Event with Dinosaur Trivia: Friday, June 26, 6 p.m. Bring the family for an exciting “Jeopardy!”-style game of trivia. Learn all about dinosaurs and maybe even win some prizes.
