Annual Strawberry Social, Quilt Show on Saturday in Florence

2 min read

FLORENCE, Wis. -- The Florence County Historical Society will have its annual Strawberry Social and Quilt Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

They will offer strawberry shortcake and a beverage to enjoy on the patio and grounds of Maxsells, 209 Central Ave./U.S. 2.

A new array of quilts and quilted items will be on display in the restored historic home.

There is no charge to view the quilt show. A minimum donation of $5 for strawberry shortcake and a beverage supports the Historical Society in providing new and interesting exhibits for the museum.

Tours of the historic home with Rachel Egelseer will be offered with a donation to the society of $3 per person or $5 for a couple.

The society is still accepting quilts of all sizes and ages to display for the show. Anyone interested can contact Debbie DeMuri at 715-528-3597.

The event and raffle are the major fundraising activities of the Historical Society.

Local quilter Joan Spears made and donated the raffle's top prize, an "Amish Stars" quilt that was long-arm quilted by Patti Wabitsch. Raffle tickets will be available at the quilt show, the museum, and from members for $1 each or six tickets for $5 throughout the summer. The drawing is set for Sept. 5.

The museum, at 201 Florence Ave., is open from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday through Saturday.
