MARINETTE, Wis. -- Harmony Arboretum will host a free morning of outdoor fun from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 29.
Children will enjoy a scavenger hunt and harvest party while exploring the gardens they have helped grow throughout the summer.
Participants will learn how pollinators play an important role in producing the season's harvest as they explore the garden beds.
Weather permitting, a sprinkler will be available for children to cool off, so families are encouraged to bring swimsuits, water-friendly shoes, and clothing suitable for playing in dirt and water. Children may also want to bring a basket or small bucket to collect fresh produce to take home.
While visiting Harmony Arboretum, families can also explore the Children's Learning Garden, demonstration gardens, herb and fragrance garden, prairie, and Harmony hardwoods. The 496-acre site, formerly the county farm, has been transformed into a conservation, horticulture education, and demonstration area. Harmony Arboretum is open to the public year-round and admission is always free.
Harmony Arboretum is 7 miles west of Marinette on Highway 64, or 10.5 miles east of U.S. 141 on Highway 64, then one-half mile south on County Road E.
