CRYSTAL FALLS -- The Summer Reading program is in full swing at the Crystal Falls Library, with the theme for this year being "Unearth a Story."
Kids will learn all kinds of things about dinosaurs. Refreshments are served at each event.
Week 4: Digging for Information Week --
-- Toddlers Story Hour, Wednesday, 10 a.m.: After reading some stories, the kids will stomp like dinosaurs and play the matching game, Dino Maker.
-- Preschoolers Story Hour, Wednesday, 11 a.m: Preschoolers will listen to dinosaur tales, and then make some "D" dinosaurs out of construction paper.
-- "Dino Academy: A Dino Discovery Adventure," Thursday, 1 p.m.: The Bright Star Touring Theatre group will present a prehistoric world with Dino Academy. Led by the quirky and curious Dr. Sarah Tops, the adventure uncovers fascinating dino facts that will wow even the biggest dinosaur fans. Featuring life-like, colorful dinosaur puppets that stomp, roar and charm their way into every heart, the show blends science, storytelling and imagination in the style of favorite nature programs. It's an unforgettable field trip through time without ever leaving your seat.
-- Children 5-8 Story Hour, Thursday, 1 p.m.: Kids will make fingerprint dinosaur families.
-- Children 9-12 Story Hour, Thursday, 3:30 p.m.: Participants will make Lego dinosaurs and Lego dinosaur lands.
-- Children 5-8 Story Hour, Friday, 11:30 p.m.: They will repeat Thursday activities for those unable to attend.
-- Children 9-12 Story Hour, Friday, 1 p.m.: They will repeat Thursday activities for those unable to attend.
-- Book Buck Bonanza Store: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 27, The store will open for kids to spend their book bucks, which was earned during the Summer Reading Program.
-- Singer Ben Traverse performance, Monday, 6 p.m.: Traverse will sing selections from his American Rail program. The railroad was a revolution for more than just commerce, it enabled people and ideas to travel across America at speeds previously unseen. The railroad became romanticized, developed its own mythology, and left a massive mark on traditional American music. Listeners will be presented with an array of traditional songs centered around the railroad, as well as songs in which the rail played a significant role in their evolution.
-- Book Buck Bonanza Store, Tuesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.: The store will be open for kids to spend their book bucks that were earned during the Summer Reading Program. This event will conclude the 2026 Summer Reading Program at the library.
