Xander DuBose among member of state championship trap shooting team

MASON, Mich. -- Xander DuBose of Haslett, Mich., was among the members of the Williamston High School trap shooting team that won the state championship for being the best Class 1A Trap Shooting Team.
He is the son of Buc and JoAnne DuBose of Haslett and paternal grandson of Thomas and Angie DuBose of Iron Mountain.
The Michigan State High School Clay Target League 2026 State Tournament took place June 19-20 in Mason, Mich.
DuBose has only been competing three years, and placed seventh in the novice class in 2024. In the state shoot in 2025, he qualified for the national shoot involving 2,300 shooters nationwide. He finished in the top 400 for the individuals and ended up with a rank of 347.
In 2026, after competing in the state shoot, he has again qualified for the nationals, which will take place this summer.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Averie Popp of Norway was among the 1,469 students who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in May. She received a bachelor's degree in social work.

MADISON, Wis -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the dean's list for the spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean of their school or college at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the dean's list, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester.

MADISON, Wis. -- More than 9,100 students, including students from this area, earned degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May.
The university had its spring 2026 commencement ceremony for doctoral, MFA and medical professional candidates at the Kohl Center on May 8 and its ceremony for undergraduate, law and other master's degree candidates at Camp Randall Stadium on May 9.

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's 152nd spring commencement celebrated the achievements of 1,100 students in two ceremonies May 16 inside Kolf Sports Center. Recognized for earning doctoral, master's, bachelor’s or associate degrees, the new graduates joined the ranks of more than 100,000 UWO alumni.

Niagara, Wis. -- Casey Jean Harvath, master of science in education.

DECORAH, Iowa -- Luther College recently announced that William Coffey of Niagara, Wis., was among the students named to the spring 2026 dean's list.
To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
