100-Plus Women Who Care meet Monday

2 min read

IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care will host its 39th gathering Monday at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.

Registration will be open from 5 to 6 p.m., with the meeting to begin promptly at 6 p.m. Individual members will register by last name; team members can check in under their captain’s name.

The club will host a pizza buffet for $10 per person for anyone wishing to eat after the meeting. The bar will be open from 5 to 5:50 p.m. and again after the meeting.

Those who are going to nominate a charity are asked to verify the nominee's 501(c)(3) status in advance.

For those not familiar with the group, 100-Plus Women meets quarterly.

Those donating $100 at the meeting, either by group or individuals, can nominate organizations/members to speak at the gathering and answer questions about their non-profit. Only three organizations/members are picked to speak, with five minutes of information and five minutes for questions.

Members attending then vote -- one vote per $100 donation -- on their choice to receive the entire sum donated for the quarter. Members can make an individual donation or via teams of up to four.

Not all team members have email addresses, so those planning to participate are asked to make sure their team members knows the date for the meeting.

They also ask that attendees make sure they are prepared to pay if not all teammates are present. Members can gather checks from those absent in advance.

"Walk of Life Shari Wary was the recipient of the May meeting donation and her organization received $16,500," said Trisha Peterson of the Dickinson County 100-Plus Women Who Care.

This last donation brings the total donated to almost $865,500 that 100-Plus Women have given back to the community.

"We can't wait to get to one million dollars, so we are really encouraging our members to bring new people so we can achieve this goal quicker," Peterson said. "We are looking to grow our numbers to support these organizations with more money each time. Every $100 donation is a vote, it can be one person or a team of 2 or more people. Come check us out this meeting Aug. 10 at Pine Grove."
