ESCANABA -- Bay College will host the Jen Grant exhibition "Explorations Near and Far" starting Thursday through Oct. 1 in the Hartwig Gallery.

An artist talk and reception is set for 2 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Hartwig Gallery on the Bay College Escanaba campus. The event is free and open to the public.

"My artistic journey is a story of rediscovery," Grant said in a news release.

After earning a bachelor of fine arts in drawing and painting from Northern Michigan University in 1998, she stepped away from the canvas for more than 20 years.

"In the fall of 2023, I picked up the brush again -- and I haven't been able to put it down since," she said.

Working with acrylic paint on canvas, her "Explorations Near and Far" collection captures the energy of this new chapter. These pieces use vibrant colors and rich textures to interpret landscapes both familiar and distant.

Through her work, she invite viewers to explore the world with a renewed sense of curiosity, proving it is never too late to return to your creative purpose, Bay states in the release.
