IRON MOUNTAIN -- Romance and history will take center stage Sunday when the century-old Braumart Theatre hosts "A Romantic Afternoon: Somewhere in Time," featuring historical romance author Eleanor Morelli.
The event begins at 2 p.m., with doors opening at 1 p.m. Admission is $8.
Guests will have an opportunity to meet Morelli and learn more about her historical romance novel, "Invitation from Iron Ridge," as well as her upcoming release. She will also share the history, characters and long-ago settings that inspire her stories.
The afternoon will include a special screening of the 1980 romantic drama "Somewhere in Time," starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour and Christopher Plummer.
Attendees will also have a chance to win one of three curated Mackinac Island-themed gift baskets. Other activities will include a "Love Letter Across Time" keepsake activity and a photo kiosk, where guests can create a romantic memento of the afternoon.
"'Somewhere in Time' is the kind of film that invites people to believe in the beauty of love, memory, and longing," said Barb Kramer, who writes under the name Eleanor Morelli. "It is a joy to help bring this romantic experience to the historic Braumart Theatre and to share it with readers, moviegoers, and everyone who loves stories that carry us into another time."
Morelli writes historical romance set in long-ago worlds, where love must navigate the traditions, expectations, sacrifices and hopes of another era. Her debut novel, "Invitation from Iron Ridge," introduces readers to a historical romance shaped by immigrant dreams, difficult choices and the hope for a better life.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the full lobby experience before the film begins. From 1 to 2 p.m., visitors can browse displays, meet Morelli, view the Mackinac Island-themed gift baskets, write a "Love Letter Across Time" and make a keepsake at the photo kiosk.
Beverages and snacks will also be available for purchase.
"Enjoy an afternoon filled with romance, history, and the unforgettable beauty of a journey 'Somewhere in Time,'" she said.
