MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Quilters Association will have its 2026 Autumn Comforts Quilt Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Ojibwa Casino, 105 Acre Trail, Marquette.
This biannual show will feature more than 200 quilts on display, along with door prizes and basket raffles. Admission is $5.
MCQA has worked as a team to make a beautiful quilt, "Northern Lights‚" that measures 108 by 108 inches and will be raffled off, with the winner being announced at 3 p.m. Monday, at Peter White Library. The winner need not be present. Raffle tickets are available to purchase from MCQA Guild members or at the show Saturday and Sunday at $5 per ticket or three for $10. All proceeds from the raffle are used to facilitate this year's Autumn Comforts Quilt Show as well as the many community services the group provides.
Quilters from across the Marquette County region, as well as those from other areas, will display a variety of quilts and related items as well.
MCQA was formed in 1978 to foster the appreciation of quilts and the art of quilting among quilters and the public; to increase knowledge of traditional and contemporary techniques of quilting and to provide an encouraging environment for quilters to practice and exchange skills; to serve the community through charitable activities involving quilting; and to educate the public about the significance and history of quilting as an art form and as an ongoing craft.
Several organizations in the Marquette County area have received quilts or other handsewn items generously given by MCQA members. Centered in Marquette, their members hail from several counties in the Upper Peninsula. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. Eastern time the first Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at the Peter White Public Library's Community Room.
