CRYSTAL FALLS -- The Crystal Falls District Community Library has several activities slated for September.
Another month of classes has resumed, including Spanish, crochet, and quilting, all at the library in Crystal Falls.
The library will host its second storytime of the school year at 10 a.m. Saturday. Children through age 9 will hear books about family to honor Grandparents Day on Sunday. After stories, children will create a picture of their grandparents' house and enjoy a snack. The storytime schedule can be found on the Crystal Falls District Community Library website and on the Facebook page.
Beginning sign language classes, taught by local teacher Heather Strong, will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting next week and continuing for two consecutive months. To sign up, call the library at 906-875-3344 or stop in at 237 Superior Ave.
Richard P. Smith will give a presentation on "Understanding Michigan Black Bears" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. Smith is an award-winning outdoor author and photographer who has been hunting white-tailed deer and black bear for more than 50 years. He will present research and evidence regarding Michigan black bear behaviors and habits. The event will include a PowerPoint presentation with lots of photos, a question-and-answer session and refreshments for all who attend.
To honor National Sign-Up for a Library Card Month in September, the library is offering goody bags with craft kits and bookmarks to all Forest Park students who sign up for a library card or check out a book at the library in September. The library offers resident, non-resident, student, and teacher accounts, and touts a large variety of fiction, nonfiction and large-print books for borrowing.
