Wild Rivers Quilt Guild to host special guest

2 min read

FLORENCE, Wis -- Wild Rivers Quilt Guild will welcome a special speaker when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Florence Natural Resource Center, 5638 Forestry Drive in Florence.

The Tips and Techniques presenter will feature Pat Syta, owner of Bound to Be Quilting from Boulder, Colo. She will present "The Ins and Outs of a Quilt-Designing Business," an engaging lecture and trunk show that offers a behind-the-scenes look at how a successful quilt designer builds patterns, collaborates with fabric companies, and brings ideas to life.

Syta will share 20-plus quilts, including designs created specifically for batik fabric lines.

To make the evening even more interactive, she invites members to submit questions they have a "burning desire" to ask about the quilt designing world.

There is no fee for the presentation

Syta will then lead a full-day quilting workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The workshop will feature her striking quilt, "Point of Attraction." The design is perfect for showcasing bold focal fabrics while learning several versatile techniques -- TriRec units, LeMoyne Star variation, Eight-at-a-time halfsquare triangles.

Class fee is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers. Checks can be made payable to Wild Rivers Quilt Guild and mailed to Wild Rivers Quilt Guild Treasurer, 122 Brook Trout, Iron River, MI 49935. Payment can also be made online at www.wildriversquiltguild.org under the "It's a Date" tab.
