2 min read

CRYSTAL FALLS -- The Crystal Falls District Community Library will host editor Ted Van Alst Jr. at 1 p.m. Tuesday for a discussion of part two of "Never Whistle at Night: Back for Blood."

The book is a collection of dark indigenous tales, sure to chill you to the bone this spooky season. Join the library for a discussion with Van Alst, who will take questions, and refreshments. This event will be broadcast live via Zoom; contact the library for the link to take part virtually.

There is still time to check out the October selection of books for book clubs. Middle School Book Club is reading "Dr. Critchlore's School for Minions" by Sheila Gruau, Young Adult Book and Movie Club is reading "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, Adult Book Club will be reading "The Correspondent" by Erik Larson, and Literature and Film will be reading "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. Visit the library at 237 Superior Ave. to check out a copy.

The Medical Care Access Coalition will be at the Crystal Falls Library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the next two Thursdays, Oct. 22 and 29, for Medicare open enrollment. They hope to handle as many people as possible in the Iron County area -- to make an appointment to meet them at the library, call 906-776-5412.

October is Fee Amnesty Month at the library, and the library is accepting canned goods in exchange for lost items as well. Come into the library any time during the month to have fees forgiven. The library hopes to bring patrons back to the library and encourage the community to check out materials. The library's checkout policy has changed as well, with due dates on returned books, audiobooks, and CDs extended from two weeks to one month. DVDs no longer require any fee for checkout, and checkout periods have been extended from five days to one week. Come into the library this month and enjoy all there is to offer!
