KINGSFORD -- The Kingsford High School Class of 1968 celebrated its 58th reunion on Sept 11-12.
A class mixer on Friday night in the Antoine Room at Recreation Lanes began with Pam King welcoming all and thanking them for joining in this special time together and noted those will be missed that weren't in attendance.
King invited everyone to visit the memorial table throughout the evening to remember deceased classmates.
The music from the class era brought members back to high school days. The class thanked Jerry Holmquist for setting up the runs of music for gathering time, dinner time and afterwards.
It was a fun vibe with Priscilla Mattson's creative displays of memorabilia, photo boards, name signs, and trees with old 45s hanging on them. Tables were decorated with old vinyl record centerpieces and votive candles, also designed by Priscilla Mattson. A quilt made by Kathy Scott that featured the senior class pictures was displayed and enjoyed. A KHS cap, gown, and tassel were available for classmates to try on. A buffet offered porketta and buns, a variety of hors d'oeuvres and pizzas.
Classmates were given 3-inch blue cowbells with an attached handwritten message "Sound the bell... it's a reminder that waking up each new day is a blessing and that joy and beauty can be found in every moment, even in hard times."
As the evening came to a close, classmates had a blast popping the many maize and blue balloons and could be heard saying "See ya all tomorrow."
On Saturday night, classmates and guests met in the White Pines Room at the Pine Grove Country Club for social hour. Before dinner was served, King welcomed everyone and Tony Adams offered the blessing. Everyone was served their choice of plated dinner: tenderloin, chicken Parmesan, seared salmon. The dessert table offered a build-your-own ice cream sundae bar and frosted cupcakes.
They also collected donations for their KHS Scholarship fund both nights. A classmate and their spouse, who wish to remain anonymous, has offered to match the donations collected. A heartfelt thank you is extended to them, and to everyone who contributed to this scholarship -- every dollar collected is greatly appreciated.
In closing, it was the classmates, their participation, conversations, laughter and caring about each other that made this reunion a success. "Thank you for sharing in the 58th class reunion. As we journey forward, may our paths stay blessed and our hearts stay connected."
