IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Braumart will bring the music of Talking Heads to the big screen at 7 p.m. Saturday with a special showing of the acclaimed concert film "Stop Making Sense."
The screening will feature an enhanced sound system designed to give audiences an immersive concert experience.
Often hailed by critics as one of the greatest concert films of all time, "Stop Making Sense" captures the legendary rock band Talking Heads at the height of its musical creativity. Directed by filmmaker Jonathan Demme, the film showcases the band alongside an energetic ensemble of musicians in an exhilarating live performance.
Originally released in 1984, the concert film was shot over four nights in December 1983 at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., while the band was touring in support of its album "Speaking in Tongues." The performance features memorable songs spanning the band's career, including early favorites such as "Psycho Killer" and the hit "Burning Down the House."
The film features Talking Heads' four core members, David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison, joined by an exceptional group of supporting musicians, singers and performers. The expanded lineup helps create the distinctive, high-energy performance that has made the film a lasting favorite among music fans.
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, "Stop Making Sense" received a special restoration in 2024, allowing a new generation of audiences to experience the groundbreaking concert film with renewed picture and sound quality.
The film's cultural significance was also recognized in 2021 when it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.
