Post 145 to host breakfast Sunday

NORWAY — The American Legion Post 145 of Norway will serve an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 28, at the hall. Menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast, hash brown potatoes, toast, fruit salad, coffee, milk and juice. Cost is $10 per person, with ages 6 and younger eating for free. Free community meal on Sunday

NORWAY — Grace United Methodist Church of Norway will host a free community meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The menu will be sloppy Joe, macaroni salad and dessert. There is no charge for the dinner, but a donation basket will be available for those who want to make a contribution toward the meals. Mroz to speak at Northwoods Geology Club meeting

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center in Florence. This month’s meeting will feature guest speaker Thomas Mroz, who will present on the Champion Mine, a historic iron mine in Champion and highlight part of the Upper Peninsula’s mining history. Anyone interested in geology, mining history, environmental science and local mineral collecting is encouraged to attend. All meetings are open to the public, with no dues or fees.

Cash prizes for Dickinson Library Summer Reading

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library’s Summer Reading Program has started. All ages may stop in at any of the three library sites to sign up and get a registration bag filled with fun freebies and a Summer Reading goal card to fill out and return for a chance to win lots of prizes. Old Victoria celebrates Log Cabin Day on Sunday

ROCKLAND, Mich. — Take a step into the past from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time Sunday at Old Victoria’s Log Cabin Day Heritage Celebration in Rockland. The free event celebrates Michigan’s Log Cabin Day with an open house of the restored miner’s cabins that were originally built in 1899 to house workers of the Victoria Copper Mining Company.
